to help us forget the sound of war
can it lift our spirits...for at least a moment or more
the trumpets, the drums and the rest of the musical team
play on and on
or so it would seem
so we can dream of home
and no longer alone
we play the tunes in our mind...as we struggle and fight against the foe
and forever we go to the very end
with victory
no matter the price
then to the parade the music and drums
down main street
with weary feet
so the crowds can cheer
we can have a beer
with sadness
we remember our buds
as the songs play on
who is missing and cant hear the song
